Quick and Easy meal:

3/18/2017

Do you need a quick and easy breakfast/lunch/dinner option? This is super easy and tasty. I love topping it with an over easy egg. Watch the olive oil - you really don't need more than a teaspoon. Want to add a healthy carb? Make sweet potato fries! Add 1 yellow.
For 21DF: 1.5 red, 1 green, 1 tps

This is a total body - low rep, high weight - workout that I did today. Anything that doesn't require weights (Plank, sprints, Push-ups, etc) would be a 30 second drill. Enjoy!

Salmon with Avocado

For the last 30+ days we were on the Whole30 plan and had great results. My personal results: 7lbs & 7.25 inches. We are koe in the reintroduction phase and it is killing me! Stomach aches are coming back as I introduce things like dairy. I am starting to think that staying W30 is the way to go. I feel almost relieved when it is a fully compliant day. Funny how far we have come. Black coffee only for me by choice. It's wild. Here is tonight's dinner and it was excellent!

Target Marketing

Overheard in the Rossignol household:

Chase: I want to have 40 years of fun, Dad. Tim: 40 years of fun?
Chase: Yeah, Chucky Cheese gives it to you.
Tim: Its not that fun and they don't "give" you anything, even the bad pizza.
Chase: Ok, what about one of those tubs you can walk into?
Tim: You mean the ones for the elderly?
Chase: Yeah, I guess. How much water do you think we could get in there?
Dana: You can't swim in those tubs, if that's what you are thinking.
Chase: *silence* Ok, never mind then.

Chase: Dad, can you get me something out of the treat bin?
Tim: Its almost time for dinner.
Chase: But I miss you when you are working and if you got me a treat I could think of you and make this face...*makes pleasant smiling face*
Tim: :blink:blink: *seems to contemplate*
Chase: *holding pleasant smiling face while sensing weakness*
Dana: You know he is tricking you, right?
Chase: *glances at Dana and then saunters off*
Tim: I swear I knew that, but the face.....
Dana: It's like you just met him.

If I had not stopped what I was doing I would never have had this moment:
"I want to break a world record, Mom"
"A world record for what, Chase?"
"Running"

This is what it looks like when you are just trying to talk and eat while your 5 year old is driving you crazy yelling stuff to you from another room, but he's so damn funny you can't get frustrated. This. Is. Parenting. #KeepTheHumor

Please be patient.

I watch him walk into the school. I see his little body and his jacket that still holds the warmth from a good bye hug. This is when I whisper the prayer: Please be patient with him. He is just five.
Then I choke back tears while driving away. It goes by so fast and every interaction goes into who our little ones become.

Strong Personalities

10/28/2015

We quietly unite at malls, daycares, schools, and social events. The hushed and frustrated tones of another parent speaking to their preschooler about “good behavior” when outside of home base. Our children are referred to as “Strong Personalities”. I hear you, I see you, and I stand by you to give you support. Our little people are not model citizens. They buck the list of room rules. They do not color within the lines.

The frustration tends to mount with each less than stellar report from an adult that spends their day with our children. Today I found myself gathering up prized toys into a bag for a punishment regarding today’s behavior at daycare. I was mumbling to myself about the number of times we have gone over the simple rules of No Baby Talk, Look Your Teachers and Hear Their Words, Control Your Body. My hand stilled. My heart sank.

A 4 year old should be silly. As frustrating as it is for adults – they NEED to be silly. Their bold personalities may help them to stand up for what they believe in later in life. To fearlessly stand for SOMETHING. Don’t we want that?

Embrace your tiny terrors. One day they may do great things and not just fall in step and stand in line while bad things happen to people around them. They are bold. They do not color within the lines. They are not always Model Citizens. They question. If we are careful to raise them to respect, be loyal, have honor, and refuse to be bystanders - we could be raising warriors for the weak and voiceless.

Let’s unite and refuse to let the ripples in the day turn into waves that impact our time with our children. Their childhood is so fleeting and responsibilities of the teen years will soon weigh them down.  Let’s unite and find the humor in the frustrating occurrences….it’s honestly ok to do that. A secret handshake would also be cool to have.

Make sure your car has these items stocked before the winter months

Many of us live in areas in which winter weather can make travel hazardous. It is essential to have several items stored in your car before that weather hits. In the event an accident or other car related issues occurs make sure you, your teenage, or elderly drivers are prepared.
1) Protein bars or energy bars These will supply quick fuel if you are stuck for hours/days
    * Protein Bars
2)Flashlight Check batteries before winter
    *Flashlight I recommend
3)Blanket A reflective heat blanket can be found at stores like EMS     *Survival Blanket
4)Gloves
*Always have an extra pair beyond what you were wearing that         day
5)Hat
6) Extra socks
*If you need to shovel out, warm dry socks will be needed to replace potentially wet ones
7) Hand/Feet warmer packs
*These can be found at almost any drug store, discount store, Amazon.com, or campling/hiking store
    *Hot Hands
8) Road flares
*If your car has been in an accident and is off the road - flares will alert emergency personnel who may not see the tracks due to snow cover or ice.
    *Road Flares
9) 1st aid kit
*check to make sure it is stocked if you already have one
*Quik Clot is recommended, as well. Quik Clot Option
10) Collapsible shovel
*It may be necessary to dig your tires out of a snow bank
    *SOG shovel

    * Kitty Litter can help to regain traction, as well

**special note: always fill and bring a large water bottle every time you exit the house**
